Answers
I have a “Particular Model” of phone will your headsets work with this?
Some telephones have a particular type of headset socket and some do not, please use the
headset
selector to make the appropriate selection.
What does Monaural and Binaural Headset mean?
A monaural headset basically has one ear piece and a binaural has two earpieces.
What does Noise
Cancelling mean?
Noise Cancelling means that the Headsets are designed to cut out virtually all the distracting background noise
from noisy office or call centre environments.
I have a headset(RJ11) socket on my telephone. Can I use any headset?
If a telephone has a
RJ11 headset socket then any of our headsets can usually be used.
However, telephones from
Cisco, Ascom, Philips, Plantronics, Panasonic and Avaya (Callmaster) use
a non-standard configuration. The telephone
will usually have a volume control for the headset, as well as a button
for answering calls with the headset.
Can I unplug my handset and plug in my headset?
There is NO international standard for the handset wiring of telephones. This means that if you just unplug the handset and
plug in a headset, the headset may not work. Even if it did work, there may be no means of adjusting the volume of the
speech. To make sure that the headset will work, you will need to fit an adapter or an amplifier to the phone and then
plug the handset and headset in this.
Do you sell cordless headsets that will interface to digital telephones?
The GN Netcom cordless headset provides wireless hands free working and
can interface with any telephone that has a detachable handset.
It connects like a telephone/headset amplifier to the telephone. It
has an optional handset lifter that can be operated
remotely to answer the call. The headset itself is battery powered and charges off the base unit.
How do I make the Deluxe Monaural Headset (DH) into an over the ear type of headset?
For a simple
step by step guide for adjusting the Deluxe Monaural Headset (DH) to an over the ear type headset, click here.
What is acoustic shock?
Acoustic Shock is a high intensity sound burst on the telephone headset. This could be accidental or deliberate. Likely causes are sounds from
fax machines; customers tapping into a headset; malicious acts.
All Crucible Technologies headsets have built in acoustic shock protection to protect the operators hearing. The Acoustic shock protection
excludes high-intensity noises that could otherwise cause long-term hearing damage.
What is the difference between a Headset Amplifier and a Headset Adapter?
Headset Amplifiers allow you to increase the volume of both the incoming voice level, which is the callers voice and the
outgoing voice level which is your own voice.
Does the amplifier make the handset volume louder?
Yes, a headset amplifier allows you to increase the volume of the incoming and outgoing voice levels
Do the Amplifier / Adapter have to be the same make as the Headset?
No, the make of Headset does not determine what make of Amplifier / Adapter that you have to buy. Most Amplifiers / Adapters
have switches to make sure that you can set them to work with your type of headset.
I have a digital telephone which is part of my phone system. As it has no headset socket, what
can I do?
A telephone/headset amplifier or perhaps a telephone/headset adaptor would be suitable. This will allow you to connect a handset
and a headset into the telephone. A telephone/headset amplifier can allow you to connect a headset to virtually any telephone
(as long as the handset can be disconnected).
I have a home telephone. Is there any other option for me, other than buying a
telephone/headset amplifier?
In this case, a better option is to buy a telephone with a headset socket. This can often be a lower cost option and certainly
more convenient.
Why is a telephone with a headset port more convenient than using a telephone/headset
amplifier?
When using a telephone/headset amplifier, you only need to pick up the handset, even when answering the telephone with a headset.
This is the only way the telephone can be forced to answer the call. The off-hook lever is a simple way of doing this, and is
supplied with some amplifiers. (The exception to this is that on some telephones, the hands free button can be
reprogrammed to answer calls in the headset mode.)
However with a headset telephone, you only need to operate the headset button on the telephone to answer the call.
